Offense

Our O-line played a little better in this game at least in pass protection than in the other games so far this year.  I would still like to see them improve their run blocking especially in short yardage situations.  I was also disappointed by the number of holds that they got called for.  It is also still critical that we draft an Offensive Lineman in the first round of this year’s draft.

I miss this guy!

I liked Reid’s call of a QB sneak on 4th down instead of his terrible shotgun calls on 4th downs of late.  We also converted it which is pretty much a given on QB sneaks of under a yard.

Mike Bell looked terrible again.  Please just cut him or at least demote him.  He has no business running any plays in our offense.

Our main problem on offense was that we simply had no big plays.  It’s tough to win games or score points without the occasional big play.  It was also a stark contrast from the rest of the year with Vick in as QB.

Kolb looks like a scared child in at QB.  He refused to pass the ball down field the entire game and repeatedly checked down to McCoy, who ended the game with 12 catches.  It’s alright to check down often, but not always.  If we have any chance to win without Vick, Kolb needs to look deep and get the ball to DeSean and Maclin.  Kolb did finish with pretty good stats, but again, it was because of his short throws.  He repeatedly missed open receivers down field and showed great indecision, which resulted in him holding onto the ball too long.  He also should have had at least two more interceptions, but got lucky when the Redskin players dropped the balls.

Defense

Our defense absolutely could not stop the run for a large majority of the game.  They picked it up in the second half, but it was pretty embarrassing overall.  It makes you miss Trotter.  I really think that Bradley should be moved to the outside and we should draft a stud inside linebacker in the second round.

I also witnessed some really bad tackling, which seems to be a staple of the Eagles and some poor coverage, by Coleman.  Coleman seemed like he was confused, but as a rookie that is to be expected at times.

Overall I still like the direction that our defense is going in, but would like to see improvement from the linebackers.

Special Teams

Please, just cover on kick and put returns.  The Eagles have been terrible in this aspect of the game.

Standout Player

LeSean McCoy looks great.  He is very shifty and has excellent balance.  It seems like we have the next Westbrook.  On one play he was heading right and cut back to the left insanely fast to pick up 4 yards instead of losing one.  He fished the game with 16 carries for 64 yards and 12 catches for 110 yards behind a mediocre offensive line.

Disappointments

Kolb – see above

Stewart Bradley – He is pretty good in coverage, but really isn’t that great against the run.  He missed two key tackles and miss covered the TE, which resulted in a touchdown.  He needs to keep his head in the game and attack the line of scrimmage on run plays.  Maybe Jamar Chaney will step it up big time next year and take his job.  We probably need to spend a high draft pick on an inside linebacker though.

Vick’s injury

It’s going it hurt us pretty bad unless Kolb gets his head in the game real fast.  He is going to be out for 4 weeks.  Lets hope we can weather the storm until his return or that Kolb grows a pair.

Thanks for reading everyone.  I’ve decided that I’m going in a different direction though from now on.  I’m going to focus more on the draft than I have been.  At some point soon, I’ll make a first round mock draft and I’m looking to add a mock draft database to the site.  Bear with me for now.
