Mizenko’s Updated Mock Draft
Round 1: Christian Ballard DE/DT Iowa (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhgvSsE5tLI) This kid is a monster (6-4 298) and he can play DE and DT. The Eagles love this type of player that can play multiple postitions, and he fits the bill. Plus with the injury to Brandon Graham, torn ACL, DE becomes a need.
Round 2: Benjamin Ijalana OT/OG Villanova This is another beast of a kid (6-4 320) and can play either OT (with LT potential) and he can play OG. He plays with a mean streak. He was quoted saying that his goal isn’t just to block people…its to punish people. He can play guard, but our OL is getting better and I think we all forget how young they are (Peters is 28, Todd is 28, McGlynn is 25, MJG is 27, King is 25 and Justice is 26) they are playing well for their youth and are getting better. This kid adds depth and athletism as well as versatility.
Round 3: Kelvin Sheppard ILB/OLB LSU Once again a big kid (6-2 240) and plays multiple positions, in his first two years at LSU he played WILL and his last two years he played MIKE. He is very athletic and makes plays. He will come in a back up MIKE and SAM and maybe push for the starting WILL depending on Ernie Simms contract.
Round 4: Tim Barnes C Missouri This pick allows McGlynn to stay at center, but also back up at his natural guard position. Barnes is a athletic player who will be an immediatly back up center and a likley starter a year down the road.
Round 4: Rashad Carmicahel CB/KR/PR Virginia Tech Look, eveyone thinks CB should be our greatest need, but with the play of Patterson (27 yrs old) and Lindley (24 yrs old) they are young and getting better as the year goes on. Carmichael will add depth and potential starting ability with great return skills
Round 5: Cory Grant DT TCU Player to add depth. Grant is a big player (6-2 305 but can add about 15 lbs and not lose is skill set) that would give us two bigger DT Dixon (6-4 330 and Grant 6-2 320)
Round 5: Tyrod Taylor QB Virginia Tech See Michael Vick (hey if Reid and co can make Vick into a better pocket QB he can do it with this kid too, this kid fits the Vick mold)
Round 6: Curt Porter OT Jacksonville St Hugh OL prospect (6-7 320) he is a small school kid that could be a steal in this draft.
Round 7: Derrick Locke RB/WR/KR/PR Talented player that has been hurt (comming off sholder and elbow injuries) not a big guy (5-9 190) but might run the fastest 40 in the combine (he was clocked between 4.36 and 4.44) hey its worth the 7th round pick.
